Symonds Yat - Just keeps getting better!!!!!!!!

A small but refined group set off on a wet and gloomy morning in May, their sights set on furthering their skills on the rapids...........

The water was low, many rocks decided to hamper our smooth journey by wedging underneath us, grounding our boats for a minute or two, but we weren’t put off, we knew where we wanted to be, on those rapids and nothing was going to get in our way. The journey down was calm, playing in and out of the eddies, ferry-gliding across the river and watching the beautiful surroundings passing us by. We stopped for lunch but it wasn’t long before we were on our way again. Splat Rock was ‘avoided’ this time, it was kind of taken out of our hands, not entirely sure if that was a good or bad thing!

And then to the rapids.

The lower level waters meant more confident paddlers, the rapids a great play area to practise those break ins and outs and the ferry-gliding. With not a capsize in sight there were smiles and laughter all round as we mixed and mingled with the other kayakers taking their turns on this amazing ride.

Not wanting the fun to stop our final play was on the seal launchers back at Symonds Yat car park, but I’m not going to tell you about that, you can watch instead...........
